Is there a way to get the falling notes just off of a MIDI or audio file without importing a video file?

To see the notes, you need midi information, by importing a midi file or by playing on a midi keyboard. Midi datas are not included in a wave or any audio file.

I'm having the same issue of not seeing the notes. I uploaded a wav file. I don't have a video file. And I never selected to have a video file. Or what are the steps to turn off the video file?
