Hi,
I saw that there was an updated version of SeeMusic today so I went and downloaded it. When I tried to run it my Avast Antivirus programme wouldn't let me and flashed up that it contained a virus called 'idp.generic'.
I did a bit of research into whether this was anything actually bad or whether it could just be ignored and I discovered that this 'idp.generic' thing only gets detected by Avast and not by other antivirus software. The thing I read suggested checking the SeeMusic.exe file on www.virustotal.com and also to run a full system scan, both of which I've done. The full system scan came out completely clean. However, if you run the SeeMusic.exe file through www.virustotal.com it flashes up the name of another virus that it has detected that's called 'Trojan/Win32.Wacatac'.
I'm not sure if anyone else is picking up any of this but I thought I'd better bring it to people's attention. Will await feedback before proceeding with opening the new SeeMusic and using it.
Thanks
Ans
Thanks for this.
I had the same problem, after some research I've found that it's a false positive, and the trojan wacatac is completely inofensive
there is no virus. the antivirus program thinks there is because it is a very new app.
