I just updated to version 4.3.7 on my Intel iMac (MacOS 10.15.6 Catalina) and it's got a few glitches.
1. The notes are starting from a place where they're already halfway down the screen, rather than starting out of frame.
2. The audio won't play if you start it from the beginning, but will play if you jump ahead to the middle.
3. And lastly, the audio isn't rendering when you go to render the video. The video renders (but the notes start halfway down the screen), but no audio at all.
Is this an issue with my settings or is just an issue that will need to be fixed in a subsequent version?
Ok sounds good.
I just added a feature that lets you change the length of time before the MIDI starts - will be called MIDI Start Time Buffer in MIDI Settings. Will be available in Version 4.3.8 later today or tomorrow.
Moving the MIDI worked perfectly. I'm still having the issue of the audio not playing until I move the playback cursor, but this time it rendered it with the audio, so that's all that's really important. I tried setting it all up and restarting the program, same thing. But once I move the cursor, the audio starts, and this time it rendered correctly, so as long as that works, I'm all set. Thank you!
Yes the way that SeeMusic handles the beginning of the file is different after adding the MIDI editor feature - it adds exactly 2.5 seconds to the beginning now - so if you need more than that you would need to push the notes a little later in the file now. I will look into making that an adjustable feature in the next update, which should be possible.
For the audio though - please do test and let me know. There is a known issue when imported audio files may not play right after you import them.
Please make sure when you reopen the app, you've already imported and set up the piece - you're not reimporting / reassigning and then testing right away.
Got it. I've been using the slightly slower speed for a while and it's been ok, but I'll try adding some extra space at the beginning of my MIDI file. I restarted when I was working on this one and it didn't change anything, but I'm working on a new video today/tomorrow so I'll give it another try and see if there was a ghost in the machine for that file or for that day. Thank you!
For the notes appearing at the start at the top - that can happen if you're using a slow speed for the animation. That can be solved by adding some silence at the beginning of your MIDI file. Just drag all the notes in the piece forward in a MIDI editor to add some silence at the beginning.
2 + 3. I'm not able to the replicate the audio issue you were describing - it renders and plays perfectly when I load the files you sent into the app.
For the audio issue, I assume you tried quitting out of the app and reopening and retrying before writing me previously?
Thank you
No rush, I can work around it for now, I totally get needing the time for mental health. I'm on MacOS 10.15.6, iMac Retina 5K 27-inch 2020, 3.8 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i7, 32 GB RAM. I'll email the MIDI and Audio files over now too. Everything had been working perfectly previously, this only happened with this update. Again, no rush. Thanks as always for being so responsive!
Sorry to hear you're experiencing those issues - That sounds very strange. The app is currently working perfectly in render testing on the Intel and M1 Macs I have available for testing.
I've been bug fixing for three weeks straight and am taking a break right now for mental health.
Please take a look at the BEFORE POSTING post at the top of Technical Support and send all of the required information, and I will take a look as soon as I can.
Thank you
