Hello!
Am really hoping to use SeeMusic for some of my projects, but the midi file I imported into SeeMusic ended up playing at a much much faster tempo to the original recording!
The midi clip was created in Ableton Live (although not to the rigid click, given the freedom required within the piece).
Anyone had these issues before? Any ideas how to fix it or slow it back down in SeeMusic to the right tempo?
Also, some tweaks I had to make to the sustain pedal control envelope post-recording do not show up in the imported midi clip in SeeMusic. Again, any ideas if/how such tweaks can be preserved during importing?
Any help gratefully received, as would love to start using SeeMusic.
Thanks in advance! TPW 🎹
Hello ThePianoWorshipper did you finally found any solution? I'm in the same situation you just describe about the MIDI tempo
Thank you
Same issue here coming from Ableton Live. Using Seemusic version 1.2 for windows. I did reopen and save the midi file with another midi editor (not sure I changed tempo information). I was able to reproduce the issue in Synthesia, confirming it must be an issue with Ableton (and potentially other DAW's). If you added a feature to manually change tempo (A feature that Synthesia does have), that would fix the problem.
Could you please attach the MIDI file to your post, or email to visualmusicdesign@gmail.com if you're having any trouble uploading?
(Please also make sure you are using the latest version of the SeeMusic app, as there were several updates that provided fixes for tempo issues)
Hi,
I have the same problem with MIDI files coming from Finale. It is strange because normally it work perfectly with software like Logic Pro or Cubase.
Thanks.
Thank you for the reply and advice, will look into it.
I think the issue generally with MIDI files coming from Ableton is that they actually don't have the tempo information included. I'd recommend opening up the MIDI file in a different MIDI editor and verifying that it actually has tempo information in it.
Otherwise, SeeMusic can't do anything besides assign the default tempo when it loads the MIDI (and that may not be correct).
Again, with sustain pedal control, please check that the sustain information is properly included in the MIDI file. I haven't used Ableton before, but it seems like it tends to not include some of the MIDI data. SeeMusic doesn't have any issue using sustain information in general.
