When I export the video, it sometimes renders as mp4 but other times as a mp4p4 file. I can't find any info on this mp4p4 extension.

This is a very strange issue - I can't easily reproduce this problem at all so far...
If you try renaming the files to .mp4, do they open as video files?
What percent of the time does this happen for you?
Does turning Audio Render On / Off in Create Video Settings before the render fix the issue?
