Why if I increase the video opacity the midi disappears and vice versa? The midi and video don't appear together.

I am using a Dell Inspiron 8.0 GB with Windows 10. I recorded a video the other day and rendered the midi and video just fine. Today I am trying to overlay the video/midi and the opacity doesn't ever seem to be right. If I increase the video opacity, the midi disappears. If I increase the midi opacity the video disappears. This didn't happen the other day. Please help. I am so frustrated.
